Here’s How to Keep Your New Year’s Health Resolutions in 2019

Generally, most New Year resolutions revolve around health in some way. The new year is a chance to get a fresh start and a clean slate to build better and healthier habits. Whether you want to eat healthier or exercise more, or even something else, the beginning of the year is always a great time to reassess your lifestyle and make some changes.

 

CORE Physical Therapy has put together these simple tips that can motivate you to stick with your New Year resolutions in 2019.

       1. Stay SMART

The SMART method stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time Specific. It is a great strategy to employ for your health goals or any goal you may have. The idea is to set goals that are realistic, achievable and as specific as possible.

       2. Start Small

Setting unrealistic goals can lead to frustration. Rather than thinking about losing 100 pounds, set a plan in motion to lose 5 pounds in the next month. Then, keep building on that. These “mini goals” will slowly but surely set you in motion to get you where you want to be without burning yourself out.

      3. Have Fun

Staying motivated is key to sticking to any New Year resolutions. Look for fun ways to increase physical activity, try out new healthier recipes and reward yourself with each milestone you achieve. These are great ways to stay motivated and develop better habits over time.
